Theory of cell membrane interaction with glass

نویسندگان

چکیده

There are three regimes of cell membrane interaction with glass - Tight and loose adhesion, separated by repulsion. Explicitly including hydration, this paper evaluates the pressure between surfaces as functions distance for ion-correlation ion-screened electrostatics, electromagnetic fluctuations. The results agree data tight adhesion energy (0.5-3 vs 0.4-4 mJ/m2), detachment (7.9 9 MPa), peak repulsion (3.4-7.5 5-10 kPa), also matching repulsion's dependence upon renormalization steric mainly from undulations.

On Membrane Interaction in Matrix Theory

We compute the interaction potential between two parallel transversely boosted wrapped membranes (with fixed momentum p−) in D = 11 supergravity with compact light-like direction. We show that the supergravity result is in exact agreement with the potential following from the all-order Born-Infeld-type action conjectured to be the leading planar infra-red part of the quantum super Yang-Mills ef...

O-4: The Interaction of Bioactive Glass Nanoparticles with Mesenchymal Stem Cells In Vitro

Background: Bioactive glass (BG) nanoparticles are amongst the most promising class of biomaterials for hard tissue regeneration because of their distinctive properties of rapid bone bonding, controlled biodegradability and their ability to stimulate new bone growth. Despite the vast interest in BG scaffolds in medical applications, the synthesis of bioactive glass nanoparticles is still facing...

A Novel Virus–Host Cell Membrane Interaction

Studies on the virus-cell interactions have proven valuable in elucidating vital cellular processes. Interestingly, certain virus-host membrane interactions found in eukaryotic systems seem also to operate in prokaryotes (Bamford, D.H., M. Romantschuk, and P. J. Somerharju, 1987. EMBO (Eur. Mol.
